Highlighting the Best of Beverly

The Discover Downtown Program is a collaboration between Groupon and local business districts that highlights a curated selection of the best things to eat, see, and do in distinct neighborhoods.

Every day, Groupon champions small business by providing an online marketplace for local merchants that simultaneously helps customers discover and support amazing communities. While Groupon recognizes small businesses are the backbone of a healthy economy, we also understand that a more holistic approach is needed to sustain a prosperous community.

The Discover Downtown program embodies this belief by highlighting a curated group of merchants from a specific neighborhood through online and offline tactics. Program goals include driving consumer foot traffic to that community, bringing attention to the neighborhood’s quirks and charms, and highlighting the small businesses and entrepreneurs that help the neighborhood thrive. To achieve this, Groupon partners with Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), such as Chambers of Commerce or retail corridors, who manage merchant sign-on in their neighborhood.

Groupon just celebrated the fifth installment of the Discover Downtown program, Discover the Best of Beverly which showcased businesses that make up the Beverly Hills/Morgan Park community in south Chicago. Building on the successes of the Explore Edgewater, We Love Lincoln Park, Explore Bronzeville, and Discover Uptown campaigns, we were thrilled to expand Discover Downtown into this South Side Chicago gem!

For the month-long Discover the Best of Beverly campaign, Groupon partnered with the Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Association (MPBHBA) and featured a curated deal collection that embodied the vibrant character of the two historic South Side neighborhoods. In addition to the merchant collection, Groupon provided a $5,000 ‘impact grant’ to MPBHBA to support a concert in the park and the Beverly Art Walk.
